The 5p Project People – Place – Planet – Prosperity – PeachyKeen PeachyKeen’s main focus…
On Saturday 30th March 2019, PeachyKeen joined millions of people around the globe for Earth Hour. The international event which is organised by conservation charity WWF, urges individuals, communities and businesses to come together and take action to save the planet.
PeachyKeen united with the world to switch off their businesses lighting from 8:30-9:30pm and took the novel approach of utilising Human Powered Energy for the full hour. At their premises on Kirk Wynd in Kirkcaldy the team powered a fantastic laser show! They also projected images of animals at risk of extinction and showed videos distributed from the WWF to raise awareness of why we need to act on climate change. The electricity used to power these activates were generated through PeachyKeen pedal pods. Human Energy is a renewable energy source similar to solar or wind power but utilises human beings to generate the electricity.
It is believed that 90% of people who participate in Earth Hour say it inspires them to do more to protect the planet! Recent environmental figures have also revealed that we could have more plastic in the ocean than fish by the year 2050. Furthermore one in six species are at risk of extinction because of climate change.
As part of the Earth Hour campaign in 2019, the WWF asked people to make a pledge to “Connect2Earth.” Some of the fantastic pledges made at PeachyKeen during Earth Hour included “planning a stay-cation closer to home this year,” “saving up for an electric van” and “making a conscious effort to avoid single use plastics.” Though the evening had a serious message, the PeachyKeen event proved to be good fun for everyone who got involved.

PeachyKeen’s has helped West Lothian Council to celebrate the opening of the new Almondvale Park in Livingston with a life-size Penguin and “green” dog festooned with LED lighting.
The opening event featured a number of stands and attractions, however we proved to be one of the most popular – but then you do not normally expect to see a Penguin in the middle of a park in Scotland.
We connected our PeachyKeen pod to the interactive Penguin and Dog and let the general public generate the power to make them light up.
The experience was designed to illustrate the amount of electricity that is being created while someone is exercising.

PeachyKeen developed a unique interactive experience to enable schools to create an educational tool to physically let children gauge how much of their energy is required to create electricity.
We connected our PeachyKeen Pods and our Handcranks to different types of lighting and light bulbs and enabled children to generate the required energy to power each unit.
This exciting experience enabled teachers to practically link their lessons with fun, interactive activities that allows for the different forms of learning styles, providing methods for children to work things out for themselves in a supervised and safe manner.
The event also emphasises just how energy efficient light bulbs have become.
Feedback from the schools showed how successful it was within the context of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics).

PeachyKeen was delighted to help Active Fife’s Wee Bike Fest which is designed to promote health & well being in the area.
Our remit was to provide activities over a series of evening events that highlighted Active Fife’s goal to promote cycling, health and well-being. This enabled the staff of Fife Council to encourage the local community to utilise its sports facilities and provide healthy living information.
And with it being Christmas, we decided to bring in a bit of festive cheer by using our PeachyKeen Pods to power a large illuminated Santa Claus and a Frosty the snowman model.
The event proved to be great fun for both children and their parents.

PeachyKeen has demonstrated the power of human energy during Earth Hour at the University of St Andrews by projecting an image of the World Wildlife Fund’s panda logo against St Salvator’s Chapel tower.
The event was designed to bring together students from all parts of the world who attend St Andrews University with a fun and interactive experience using the PeachyKeen Pods and our Multimedia Experience.
There was a real buzz as PeachyKeen began powering the lasers in the early evening while there was still daylight with initially a few enthusiastic students and this quickly built to a large crowd as the darkness began to take effect and the lasers increased brightness danced across the United College building .
The projected image of the panda logo was used to promote St Andrews University’s participation in the Earth Hour event and emphasise internationally its commitment to the values of the World Wildlife Fund.
